Land Rover today announced the prices of the much awaited Range Rover Velar. The Velar has been launched in India and prices start at Rs.78.83 lakh going all the way up to Rs.1.37 core. The Velar joins the Range rover pack and sits right between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. The new SUV features an almost coupe like roofline with a very wide and sporty stance while still staying true to the Range Rover design philosophy. The Velar will be available in in three powertrains – two diesel and one petrol. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine churns out 177 bhp while the more powerful 3.0-litre V6 puts out 296 bhp. There’s also the petrol 2-litre which is capable of producing 247 bhp.

The Velar is available in the R-Dynamic and even the First Edition versions while all three powertrains are available in the S, SE and HSE variant. The Range Rover Velar also features a brand new design language for the interior. To begin with, the Velar has two large centrally mounted touchscreens, one for the infotainment and one for functions like climate control.

The Velar also gets the alternative of the standard leather interior or the substantially cooler microfiber interior package. The Range Rover Velar in India will go up against a wide range of SUVs from the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Volvo XC90. It will also take on the likes of the Land Rover Discovery and the Jaguar F-Pace from its own JLR family along with more niche SUVs like the Porche Cayenne.
In terms of features, the Range Rover Velar gets the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. It features two 10-inch HD touchscreens, one on the dashboard and one just below it. The one on the top handles functions such as a navigation, media and phone menu. It is faintly arched and can be tilted through 30 degrees according to the driver’s preference. The lower screen, meanwhile, handles functions like climate control and the terrain response system.

Rohit Suri, President & MD, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said, “The New Range Rover Velar is a symbol of sophisticated design, well-crafted interior, innovative features and technologies, backed by powerful and efficient powertrains. We are extremely delighted to bring the highly awaited and one of the most desirable SUVs with many of our customers are looking forward to own and drive.”
