Lexus LS 500h launched at Rs.1.77 crore
Lexus launched its flagship product the LS 500h in India and has priced the Luxury variant at Rs.1.77 crore, the Ultra Luxury variant at Rs.1.82 crore and Distinct variant at Rs.1.93 crore. The launch of the flagship sedan comes close on the heels of the launch of the LX 300h which was launched in India at a very competitive price. The company has set itself apart from the rest of the luxury car makers by reproducing its hybrid-electric portfolio instead of just launching conventional petrol and diesel powertrains on its cars. The LS 500h is no different, as it is Lexus’ fourth hybrid car in India and the company says that there will be more coming soon. The all-new LS 500h is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) design philosophy, which also underpins the new Lexus LC.
The design philosophy rights to provide optimize weight supply and offers a low center of gravity that aids overall stability of the vehicle. The Indian-spec model looks largely similar to its international counterpart with the company’s signature spindle grille and sleek headlamps to offer an aggressive front profile. It gets creases on the side profile to offer a unique styling. It is a four-door sedan that sits on a long wheelbase of 3.1m and gets a coupe-ish design.
The interior of the new LS 500h offers the ultra-luxurious feel and comes equipped with advanced features to offer good riding experience. The front and rear seats of the car has multiple power system. It gets advanced safety package with a pedestrian detection system. Under the hood, the Lexus LS 500h gets a 3.5-litre V6 Dual VVT-i engine and two electric motors. Both works together to produce a combined maximum power output of 295 bhp (350 Nm) against a peak torque of 350 Nm. It gets a ten-speed e-CVT gearbox that transmits the power to either rear wheels or all four wheels. The Indian version is set to get an optional all-wheel-drive system as well. The all-new Lexus LS 500h is priced starting at Rs.1.77 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the luxury variant and goes up to Rs.1.93 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-end trim.
