Lexus NX 300h hybrid SUV revealed in India
Lexus entered India in March 2017 with 3 cars which are the ES 300h, Rx 450h and the LX 450d. And today it revealed a brand new hybrid SUV, which is the NX 300h. It is the smallest Lexus model in India and the third hybrid model after the RX 450h SUV and the ES 300h sedan. Now, the NX 300h will be launched in India in early 2018, probably in January 2018.
The NX 300h is the hybrid variant of the smallest SUV in the Lexus lineup — The NX — which was revealed at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year. The Lexus NX 300h is expected to price at around Rs.60 lakh ex-showroom (pan India). Powering the new Lexus NX 300h is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that is paired with an electric motor. The combined system output of the hybrid powertrain setup is 194bhp and 210Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. The Lexus NX 300h sprints from 0-100kph in 9.2 seconds and has a top speed of 180kph.
The Lexus NX 300h’s is eye-catching, to say the least. The front end of the new Lexus NX SUV is dominated by the company’s trademark ‘Spindle’ grille. Flanking the grille on either side are projector headlamps underneath which sit the LED daytime running lights. The round fog lamps are housed in L-shaped housings on the front bumper. The SUV looks stylish and sophisticated with its bold, trapezoidal grille and those sharp LED headlamps. At the sides, the wheel arches have been pumped up and house either 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels. Character lines across the sides giving them a sculpted look. The rear features sharp, wraparound taillights and a raked windscreen.
The logo on the grille is set in a blue background, which signifies that the model is a hybrid. The flared wheel arches along with the plastic covering gives the SUV a butch look. The model will be carried to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). Its old-style rivals will be the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3 as far as the size is concerned. The New Lexus NX 300h will be the most affordable Lexus on sale in India when it arrives early next year. With prices expected to start at Rs.60 lakh, it will be more expensive than its German rivals, though that won’t be an issue for die-hard Lexus fans.
