Lexus NX India Launch on November 17, 2017

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.


Lexus, the Toyota-owned luxury marquee, has announced the launch of its fourth model NX on November 17, 2017 in the Indian market. The company commenced the operations in India with the launch of Lexus ES and Lexus RX earlier this year, while a third model in form of LX was added a couple of months later. As per the report, Lexus would introduce the NX 300h trim in the country, which is a hybrid model. It is the company’s entry-level SUV model and would compete with the likes of Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes Benz GLC.

Being based on the upgraded Toyota RAV4 platform, Lexus NX is accessible in 3 grades internationally: NX200, NX300 and NX300h. However, the company would only launch the NX300h in India. Speaking of the model, it is 4640mm in length, 1845mm in width and 1645mm in height. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2660mm and ground clearance of 170mm. Lexus NX300h would be available in two variants: Luxury and F Sport. Both the variants would boast of a navigation system and head-up display as standard features, while the F Sport variant would also get paddle shifters. The NX300h, alike to other Nexus products, would be sold as CBU. Though, it is supposing local assembly to get rid of the heavy import duties.

Mechanically, the NX300h would be powered by the 2.5L 2AR-FXE petrol engine and 2JM electric motor. The petrol motor would develop maximum power of 149bhp and peak torque of 206Nm. On the other hand, the electric motor would rake in top power of 141bhp and highest torque of 270Nm, hence by taking the total power output and torque performance to 290bhp and 476Nm, separately. It would be a front-wheel-drive model as the all-wheel-drive model, with the same electric motor, has power and torque figures of 67bhp and 139Nm, respectively. The FWD and AWD models return mileage of 21kmpl and 19.8kmpl (JC08 test cycle). Lexus NX300h price is expected to start at Rs.74 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) and going as high as Rs.78 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) for the F Sport variant.
