India’s top car builder Maruti Suzuki has launched the cross-over version of its popular hatchback Celerio at a price of Rs.4.57-5.42 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Named the Maruti Celerio X, this car gets visual updates to achieve the extremely coveted crossover stance. Thanks to the beefier bumpers and matte black cladding on the sides, the Maruti CelerioX measures somewhat bigger at 3715 mm x 1635 mm x 1565 mm (length x width x height) as associated to the regular version. Wheelbase remains the same at 2425 mm, while the minimum ground clearance is rated at 120 mm. On the outside, it gets many styling elements including 14-inch alloy wheels, redesigned front grill, ORVM-mounted turn indicators, fog lamps, roof rails, dual-tone front bumper, and rear skid plate finished in silver and door claddings. The interiors are an all-black affair, with white accents delivering some contrast. The black seats get orange highlights which should go well with the exterior paint shade There’s no addition to the feature list of the X compared to the Celerio.

Black treatment continues on the inside too, as the cabin is now all-black. Seat covers adopt a pattern design with touches of bright orange. The audio unit from the regular Celerio, which comes with CD, Bluetooth, USB and Aux inputs has been carried forward on the Zxi trims. All four power windows are standard across the range.
The car continues to use the 998cc K-Series petrol engine from the regular Celerio. It produces 67 HP of power and 90 Nm of torque and can be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT unit. It gets a 35-litre fuel tank and the kerb weight varies between 835-850 kgs depending on the variant.

The CelerioX is available in the following colours – Solid Paprika Orange, Arctic White, Glistening Grey, Caffeine Brown and Torque Blue. In a welcome move, Maruti Suzuki has made the driver side airbag standard across the range and customers can opt for (O) packs with every variant to get a passenger airbag and ABS. Notable features include remote keyless entry, rear wash & wipe, height adjustable driver seat and tilt steering. Strangely, basic features such as a tachometer are available on automatic Vxi variants but not on their manual counterparts.
