Maruti YRA to be launched in India by end of 2015
With Hyundai having launched its Elite i20, Honda working on its plans to launch a modified version of Jazz, Maruti is all set to surprise its key competitors with its plans to launch the Maruti YRA. Automobile analysts and enthusiasts have been speculating the launch of Maruti YRA as a key offering from Maruti Suzuki in the premium hatchback segment.
Maruti is all set to unveil the much speculated and talked about YRA at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015. However, patrons of Maruti Suzuki in India will get its first look by the end of 2015. While we are yet to confirm our readers about the key features and specifications of Maruti YRA (which we will surely do, once Maruti Suzuki makes a formal announcement), we would surely want to discuss about what we have been hearing about the much awaited Maruti YRA.
If rumors are to be believed, the latest reports on YRA indicate that the premium hatchback will debut a new 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and the diesel variant might use the Fiat-sourced MultiJet unit. The YRA is expected to be 90 kg lighter than the Swift. This would help the car achieve best in-class fuel efficiency. It is being speculated that Maruti YRA is using the same type of high tensile strength steel that has been used in Ciaz (which weighs the lightest in its class).
Going by the pictures that have been revealed time to time on the web, one can figure out, that this time, Maruti has tried something different from its usual upright C-pillar look. The window line of YRA rises towards the rear and we hope to see the new car from Maruti offering its buyers with some more space than its best seller Maruti Suzuki Swift. The headlamps closely resembles the one in the new Swift and Dzire. It is being said that, Maruti YRA has good interior space and a large hatch door with ample loading space. With large bootspace, the YRA seems to have a long wheelbase too.
Now, let’s focus on the interiors. Going by the discussions in the Automobile community, the dials, instrument cluster, illumination gives you a premium feel of the car. The central console resembles the styling of the Maruti A-star as it features the waterfall design and use of silver and black finish materials.
The premium hatchback is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.5 to 8.5 lakhs in India. With the launch of Maruti YRA, Maruti Suzuki is planning to give serious competition to Hyundai Elite i20 and the upcoming Honda Jazz.
