Maruti Suzuki is mulling the plan to launch an all-new SUV in 2019. Upon launch, this SUV will play an important role in the further growth of the brand. Also, it will strengthen the automaker’s position in the highly competitive and highly-in-demand SUV segment. Upon arrival, the new midsize SUV will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza in the Maruti portfolio. Hyundai Creta currently leads the midsize SUV segment and the new Maruti model will compete with Creta. It would help Maruti Suzuki to post around 20,000 units per month. Interestingly, the midsize SUV segment is growing fast and several other car brands like Kia, Jeep, Tata Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen and MG Motor are also eyeing to grab a significant chunk of the pie.

Maruti is also planning to launch an entry-level SUV that will be positioned below the Vitara Brezza. This model could come based on the Future S concept that was displayed at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Maruti Suzuki India’s managing director Kenichi Ayukawa has revealed that the company would modify some things in the production version of the Future S concept. Also, some features would be added compared to the concept model. Considering the increasing demand for the upmarket cars in India, we might see the production version of the Future S model will come equipped with some premium features. Also, it will come sporting a stylish design. This model will compete with the rival like Mahindra KUV100 NXT that sells around 2,500 units per month. Maruti’s entry-level SUV could sell more units than that. However, launch details of this car are yet to be disclosed by the brand. Also, it could take time to launch, considering the fact that Vitara Brezza production model came 6 years after the concept model was displayed.
