Mercedes Benz launches pre-owned car unit, ‘Mercedes-Benz Certified’ in India

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

Mercedes Benz has launched its pre-owned car business in India. The premium car brand has named its pre-owned cars wing as ‘Mercedes-Benz Certified’. With the launch of Mercedes-Benz Certified’, the company will target those Indian customers having an interest in owning a second hand luxury car.

“There is immense potential in this segment and it will be a key to future growth of the auto industry. Mercedes-Benz witnessed 39 percent growth in 2014 year to date in the pre-owned cars segment. With attractive trade-in and financing options and complete peace of mind on offer from ‘Mercedes-Benz Certified’, we anticipate this segment to grow further, driving the sales of new cars as well,” said Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes-Benz India has inaugurated 12 outlets of Mercedes-Benz Certified across India. As claimed by the company, the pre-owned car unit of Mercedes Benz will offer the same facilities, infrastructure, service packages and unique warranty that is offered while buying a brand new car. Second hand luxury car buyers can also avail financing options from Daimler. In order to put all information under roof, Mercedes will soon launch a website for the same.

Luxury car lovers can buy a pre-owned Mercedes and can also trade-in their car (of any make) for a pre-owned Mercedes. Before any car is put up on sale, it has to go through stringent processes for its quality check and will also be refurbished before putting up for sale. While carrying out the quality check process, the company will check that the car is not more than five years old, should not have any accident history, should have run less than 1,00,000 kms and should not have been used by more than two owners.

More than 150 pre-owned Mercedes-Benz cars will be available across the 12 dealerships of ‘Mercedes-Benz Certified’ across India. The details about dealers across various locations in India is enlisted below:

Presently, the network has more than 150 sales bays and by the end of 2015, it will be extended to over 250. Beginning with these locations mentioned above, Mercedes Benz Certified will eventually reach tier-I and tier-II cities.
