Next generation Porsche Cayenne to be launched in India in June 2018

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

The Porsche Cayenne has been around for close to two decades now and has been the bestseller for the company in India for a long time now. However, the phasing out of the second generation has taken its toll on the sales numbers here. In fact, the Macan has been quite the hit for the company and now the 718 has grabbed the attention of customers in India. Don’t write off the Cayenne just yet, because Porsche is all set to bring in the new, third generation of the car to India by June this year.

The SUV from Porsche will be launched in the two variants – Cayenne and Cayenne S and the Turbo V8 will follow shortly. Associated to its prototype, the new Cayenne mixes main technological and mechanical developments which enhance its performance. This starts with the chassis and progresses to a separated link design for the front axle, a multilink rear axle, and – for the first time with the Cayenne will be available in tyre sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Rear-axle steering is available as an option which helps to improve the car’s agility.
The Cayenne adopts new design elements that hint at how this generation builds upon its predecessors. New horizontal light edges generate a broader, more athletic look as do enlarged air intakes in the front fascia. LEDs are a main feature of the new Cayenne and are standard on all models. It also has an choice to upgrade from the standard headlamps to either the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PLDS) or LED Matrix Beam headlamps, which also include PDLS.

There are changes to the inside too. There’s a new display and control concept from Porsche and it’s a 12.3-inch full-HD touchscreen, launched last year with the new Panamera. Other buttons are joined into the smartphone-like, glass-look touch surface, which gives haptic and acoustic feedback when functioned. In typical Porsche style, the driver has a central analogue tachometer to view. This is flanked by two 7-inch full-HD displays showing significant driving data that can be certain and changed using the multi-function steering wheel. Lane Change Assist, Lane Keep Assist including traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, Park Assist including Surround View, and Porsche InnoDrive including adaptive cruise control are also available.
