Porsche Panamera Turbo Launching On March 22, 2017

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

German automaker Porsche is all set to launch the new Panamera Turbo in India on March 22, 2017. The company claims that the new Panamera has been re-developed from the ground up and is the perfect mixture of a luxury saloon and a sports car. It promises to be higher-performing, more vibrant and more proficient than ever before. All that sounds excessive. Let us see what it is made of.

Since it dresses a Porsche badge, the obvious place to start is from under the bonnet. Unlike the Porsche 911, which houses its engine at the back, the Panamera’s engine is mounted at the front. The new Panamera Turbo is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.0 liter V-8 engine that belts out 550-PS of power and 770-Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to an eight-speed PDK automatic gear box and the grunt is transmitted to the road via Porsche’s all-wheel drive system. The set up helps complete the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 306 km per hour.

To tame all that oomph from under the bonnet, the new Panamera features several safety mechanics. The list includes Porsche Traction Management, 4 wheel steering, active suspension management and ceramic brakes. The car also includes driver assistance systems such as an infrared night vision camera which helps in expanding the vision range during darker hours, LED main headlamps (including matrix beam tech) with cornering and speed-sensitive range control, adaptive cruise control and, keeping assist and lane change. Once launched, the only saloon in Porsche’s stable will re-new its rivalry with some of the ‘jaw-droppingly’ gorgeous names in the industry – the Bentley Flying Spur, Aston Martin Rapide and Maserati Quattroporte.
