The Renault Duster that has witnessed huge success is all set to be available in a next generation version in 2016. According to a French publication, Caradisiac, Renault will be taking the design of the next generation Duster very seriously as the model holds a lot of importance for the company. Renault seems to have taken inspiration from the Renault Duster Oroch pickup concept that had received positive response from the target group and media when it was showcased at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The next Generation Renault Duster that is scheduled to be launched in Europe in late 2016, could come to India in 2017. As far as Renault’s India plans are concerned, the company is expected to launch the refreshed Duster this year. What should make the next gen Duster more exciting is the two additional seats at the rear. Engineers of the new model are extending the length of the crossover to add two more seats at the rear. While the current model of the Renault Duster measures 4.31 meters, the length of the next gen Duster is likely to measure 4.5 meters.

Going by the render that has been brought out by Caradisiac, the next gen Duster sports rear glass panels and an extended wheelbase. The front fascia is expected to get a new grille, a distinct bumper and a revised headlamps that could possibly come with LED DRLs. To enhance the rugged appeal, the wheel arches could get black plastic cladding.

The rear side of the cross over SUV could incorporate tailgate, bumper and restyled taillight clusters. In order to give a chiseled look to the car, the designers are expected to play with new contours on the side panels. The platform that could be engaged by Renault is yet to be confirmed. However, it is expected that the company could use a Renault model as the base.

The next gen Duster is expected to be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Despite that, the AWD and FWD options will also be on offer. Engineers working towards bringing out the next gen model are aiming to keep the new model lighter than the previous models.

Renault India had sold Renault Duster like hot cakes in India. Launched in 2011 in India, the car has received overwhelming response from the buyers. Renault is French Motor Company established in 1899. The company had first ventured in to the Indian market with the launch of Logan (in a joint venture with Mahindra). After the dissolution of the joint venture, Renault returned to India with the launch of Renault Fluence in 2011.

Renault Duster has been a game changer for Renault in India. With the launch of the second generation Duster, Renault would give stiff competition to Mahindra Scorpio, Hyundai ix25, Nissan Terrano and Ford EcoSport in India.

Renault India is all set to launch the Renault Lodgy MPV in April 2015. In July, 2015, Indian buyers would have an option to buy the Renault New Duster and in October, 2015, Renault will launch its hatchback named Renault Sandero.
