Carmakers in India have been announcing their plans to hike the prices of their products in the country due to higher input costs. While Nissan, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have already announced their plans to hike the price of their products with effect from January next year, Renault India has also declared its plans to hike the price of its cars in India.

The price hike will be effective from January 1, 2015 and the prices of the cars will increase up to 2.5 percent.

“So far we have absorbed the rising input costs, but a sustained challenging market environment has compelled us to increase our prices. The industry is eagerly looking forward to pro-business policies to reignite the automobile industry in India,” says Rafael Treguer, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault India.

The two SUVs from Renault- Koleos and Duster, will be more expensive with prices increasing by Rs. 55,000 and Rs. 19,650 respectively. Renault Fluence will be costlier by Rs 34,975. Renault Scala’s price has been hiked by Rs. 18,113 and Renault Pulse will be costlier by Rs. 11,153. (Note: Calculations are based on the starting price (ex-showroom price) of cars.)
