Renault Captur was launched in India almost a month back and already there’re reports already on the internet that the Renault is working on a new special limited edition model of the SUV. They reported that the said edition will be christened Renault Captur Bose Edition and as the name suggests, the car will feature premium Bose sound system. The Renault Captur Bose edition is seemingly in the finishing stages of testing and is probable to be launched around April 2018. Bose is a renowned brand in the high-end music system space and already supplies to high-end vehicles such as Audi and BMW. The tie-up of Renault and Bose will help improve the Captur’s appeal to audiophiles, who generally are not content with the sound systems in this price segment.

This isn’t the first time an OEM in India has tied up with a premium sound system provider as the demand from consumers for better aural gratification is on the up. Tata Motors had also joined hands with Harman-Kardon and the premium music system now comes in the company’s cars like Tigor, Hexa, Nexon and Tiago. Renault too appears to be taking the demand from music lovers extremely and has decided to tie up with Bose to enhance the desirability of the Captur. Presently, the Renault Captur gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV comes assisted with an Arkamys sound system and with speakers at the front and rear along with 2 tweeters. Renault Captur shares its platform with the popular Duster. The newly launched SUV gets dual airbags that are standard crossways all the options. The top-of-the-line Platine trim gets additional side airbags and traction control among other safety features3. Besides this, the ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) is also standard across all the variants.

Limited or special edition models have in general been used to provide a short stimulus to sales with the help of some extra features and mild styling changes. The approach to launch a music-oriented edition though is unique and it’ll be interesting to see how the model is received by the consumers. The new Renault Captur Bose edition is expected to be priced at a premium of about Rs.25, 000 but variant details are not available yet. The standard model of the Captur starts at Rs.9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
