Tata Motors to launch Bolt in early 2015, assures many new features
If you thought Tata Motors would just launch Zest to give tough competition to Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the redesigned Maruti Suzuki Dzire, then there is more to this. Now, Tata Motors has revealed its plans to launch the ‘Bolt’ hatchback. Bolt was earlier scheduled to be launched in December this year but the company has now announced to delay its launch till early 2015.
Tata Motors has already revealed key details about its latest offering in the hatchback segment. Bolt clearly represents itself as a competitor to Hyundai i10 Grand, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagon Polo and Ford Figo. The company assures something new to its customers with the launch of Bolt. The newness is being defined on the basis of design (DesigNext), drive (DriveNext) and connectivity (ConnectNext).
Bolt is based on Tata Motors X1 platform which certainly reinforces the Indica Vista hatchback. The front look of Bolt is quite different from other hatchback models introduced by Tata in the past. The headlights are quite long as we see it running through the middle of the bonnet to the grille. The rear side of the Bolt has got rounded edges and the car has been designed to give it a different look. Some of the key features include ABS, front airbags,projector headlamps, fog lamps and rear defogger, 15-inch alloys, remote central locking and turn indicators on wing mirrors.
Tata is offering this hatchback with 1.2-litre Revtron engine. Going by the details provided by the company in its official website, the Revotron 1.2T has a four-cylinder, intercooled, turbocharged, multi-point fuel injected (MPFI) petrol motor. The 1.2-litre petrol motor develops 85PS at 5,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,750-3,500rpm.
Bolt also assures a different experience in terms of redefining connectivity. Bolt has provision for smartphone integration, climate control, infotainment system, voice command and recognition system that allows you to control every feature, enhanced connectivity and essential controls on the steering wheel making audio control and answering calls easier.
Tata Bolt is expected to be priced between 4.6 lakhs to 7 lakhs and will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The company is providing transmission options of the five-speed manual as well as an AMT.
