Yamaha FZ DarKnight Version Presented at Auto Expo 2018

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

Having launched the anticipated R15 V3 and demonstrated the iconic R6 at the Auto Expo, it was time for Yamaha to appear to its mass-market product range. The Japanese two-wheeler creator has taken covers off the Yamaha FZ DarKnight Edition which is a special edition based on the FZ-S FI. Yamaha has launched its assistances with DarKnight editions in the past as well and this one is built on the same lines.

The first thing to catch your attention is the matte black paint job which gives the street-fighter an aggressive sporty look. However, the front fender and headlamp cowl is painted gloss black to match the gloss black strip running across the length of the motorbike. You get reviewed graphics which come with a chrome finish that looks tacky on a matte body color. Apart from that, there are no visual changes to the motorbike.

The special edition bike continues to be powered by a 149-cc Blue Core engine and all powertrain, suspension, brake and electronic components remain unaffected. Expect Yamaha to launch it soon at a minor premium over the regular variant’s pricing. Currently, the price for the standard Yamaha FZ starts at Rs.81, 174/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
